A Full Service Community Hospital in the Heart of Roseburg
CHI Mercy Health is improving! Mercy Medical Center is the leading provider of comprehensive healthcare services and programs for the more than 107,000 residents of Douglas County and it’s time for us to grow – together with our community – to meet needs for inpatient and outpatient care, keep pace with advances in medicine, and strengthen the future viability of Douglas County healthcare services.
Decades of experience have been invested to plan for upgrades to meet the needs of Douglas County’s residents now and in the future.
After two years of strategic planning in partnership with community leaders, Mercy is moving forward with a significant expansion of its existing facilities. The initial planning phase of the project started July 1, 2021, with construction expected to begin in 2023. Completion of the project will be determined by the final scope of work. The medical center’s goal is to better meet the growing needs for inpatient and outpatient care, keep pace with advances in medicine, and strengthen the future viability of Douglas County healthcare services.
More Than Just a Hospital
Over the last 112 years, Mercy has grown into a state-of-the-art medical center that meets health care needs across the full spectrum of life. Almost a thousand babies are born each year at Mercy, more than 40,000 people visit the hospital’s emergency department annually, and thousands of residents benefit from AIM Therapies, Home Health and Hospice, Lab, and Imaging services.
As Douglas County continues to age, the need for medical services is expected to increase in coming years. Douglas County is projected to have high growth rates in the 65 year old and above population groups which traditionally use healthcare resources at higher rates than the general population. Additionally, recent economic downturns and the rising costs of insurance to individuals and employers are expected to leave more families uninsured or under-insured and more reliant on hospital care.
Through charity care, charitable contributions and community outreach and education, Mercy makes a multi-million dollar investment in Douglas County every year.
