Blue Zones Power 9 Series

CHI Mercy Health is a proud partner of Blue Zones Project – Umpqua, now entering its third year as part of our community. Blue Zones is a national organization committed to promoting the healthy characteristics found in areas around the world where people, on average, live longer than any other population group in the world.

BZP – Umpqua is kicking off 2020 with a new free community series each month that will focus on a different component of the organization’s Power 9, a term that covers the nine lifestyle characteristics shared by Blue Zone community residents.

The Blue Zones Power 9 are:

MOVE and make daily activity an unavoidable part of your day.

Know your PURPOSE.

DOWNSHIFT by working less, slowing down, taking vacations.

Eat until 80% FULL.

Consume MORE VEGGIES and less meat and processed food.

Drink a glass of RED WINE each day.

BELONG by connecting with religion or spiritualty.

Prioritize FAMILY.

Create a healthy SOCIAL NETWORK.

The Blue Zones Project – Umpqua Power 9 series will kick off with a Purpose Workshop Wednesday, Jan. 29, 5:30-7:30, at Roseburg Public Library, 1409 N.E. Diamond Lake Blvd.

Blue Zones research has shown that people who find their true purpose as early as possible life live an average of seven years longer than others. Attend this free workshop and find that unique thing about you that can help you live life to its fullest.
